Gidon Kremer: Weinberg's Violin Concerto

Date: 31 Mar
Time: 19:00
City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra

Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla - Conductor
Gidon Kremer - Violin

When two artists just click, you can almost hear the chemistry.

Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla and Gidon Kremer unite in joint celebration of the extraordinary, neglected music of Mieczyslaw Weinberg. And then they turn to another shared passion: Schubert, whose Polonaise for violin and orchestra is a real forgotten gem - and whose "Unfinished" symphony couldn't have been more perfect even if he had finished it!

CBSO+ 5.45pm: CBSO Chief Executive Stephen Maddock OBE discusses tonight's performance with Osborn Music Director Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla.

Organised in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the Polska Music Programme.

PROGRAMME
Schubert Polonaise for violin and orchestra, 6'
Weinberg Violin Concerto, 28'
Weinberg The Golden Key, Suite No. 4 (UK premiere), 20'
